Okay Okay Okay (2023)

This collection began as an absurd writing exercise that was a challenge to write about things outside of my own thoughts, experiences, and feelings.

With poems based on the last words of the famous (Amelia Earhart, James Brown, Billie Holliday, Jack Daniel, and others) and the not-so-famous (including a high school friend and an African grey parrot named Alex), it was a journey bringing this book to life. However, the experiment was both a success and failure with my own experiences seeping into the poems while also hinting at the larger world as well.

What could have taken a maudlin turn became a celebration of life with a wicked grin towards the shadows of our own mortality.

Odd Bits Of Broken Things (2008)

This collection of poems began with a simple enough task: collect what had been written and get into some kind of publishable shape. What came next was the discovery of an autobiography through poetry.

Covering roughly two years, the words in this book covered the ending of one relationship, a move twelve hours down the east coast of the U.S., the beginning of another relationship, loneliness and confusion, the end of that relationship, a trip overseas, the ever-present struggle to pay the rent on waiter’s wages, moving back home, discovering love, and getting married.

Presented in psuedo-chronological order, it’s trip and a half down memory lane… with all the bruises to show for it.
